Towards the Prevention of Mental Retardation in the Next Generation. Volume II: The Growing Child.

Intended for teachers of junior and senior high school students, the document outlines a course on the prevention of mental retardation through education of future parents. Introductory matter suggests that the course be given in 15 lessons. Content of the curriculum focuses on the role of the growing child's mother and father as dietitian, doctor, household manager, teacher, psychologist, and lawyer. Included for each lesson is information on the following: objectives, a pretest to test the knowledge and attitudes of students before the lesson, background information for the teacher, an outline of the mini-lecture presentation for the students, classroom experience options, outside classroom experience options, an action checklist, a posttest, and selected references.
