Joint Effects of Teacher Structure and Teacher Enthusiasm on Student Achievement.

The purpose of this study was to determine the joint effects of low inference variables of teacher enthusiasm and teacher structure (degree of personal organizational capability of a given teacher) on student achievement. Eighty-six undergraduate subjects were randomly placed into one of four treatment groups to view a videotaped presentation. The main effect of structure was significant, in favor of the more highly structured group. Neither the main effect due to teacher enthusiasm nor the interaction effect was significant. These and additional results are discussed in relation to previous research in the field. (Author/LH)
