Sources of information regarding camping, backpacking, and related activities are annotated in a comprehensive listing of books, films and other non-print media, pamphlets, and periodicals largely dating from 1960. The volume contains chapters pertaining to: general directories, general camping, organized camping, camp related activities, survival, backpacking and hiking, mountaineering, orienteering, camp cooking, and wild foods. General references, free or inexpensive publications, periodicals, and non-print media are listed separately in each chapter, and organized alphabetically by title, author, or state. A selected library of best all-around sources chosen from each chapter is included. Approximately 280 manufacturers and distributors of camping equipment of all types are listed with mailing addresses and a brief statement of products available. The addresses of state agencies, Bureau of Land Management offices, National Parks and Regional Offices, and Canadian agencies are given. The National Trail System is described trail by trail within each state, and information source addresses are given. Finally there is a listing of approximately 120 organizations, giving addresses and a brief description of their activities. An author-title index and a subject index complete the volume. (SB)
