Phoenix Union High School District #210 Speech Therapy Program 1978-79. Year End Evaluation Report.

The report details speech therapy services to speech handicapped secondary students during the 1978-1979 academic year. Goals of the speech therapy program are briefly outlined, and descriptive information of the program, participants, and staff activities are included. Results of student, parent, school, and pathologist surveys indicated that the program was successful. Among specific findings were that 21.8% of the students in district special schools had speech defects requiring some therapy; .7% of the students in district traditional schools had speech defects requiring therapy; the percentage of students districtwide having speech defects serious enough to require therapy was 1.1%; articulation was the most frequently occurring speech defect of students at regular schools; and handicapped students averaged 20.5 therapy sessions compared to an average of 19.3 for traditional students.
