Scheduled Salaries for Professional Personnel in Public Schools, 1979-80. Part 1 of National Survey of Salaries and Wages in Public Schools. ERS Report.
Educational Research Service, Arlington, VA.
This publication, a companion to part 2, presents the results of a survey conducted in the fall of 1979 that collected data on salaries scheduled and paid for 23 professional and 10 support positions selected to represent the full scope of employment in public school systems throughout the United States. A total of 1,066 school systems responded to the survey. This volume gives the salaries scheduled by school systems in 1979-80 for superintendents, assistant superintendents, and certain other central-office administrators. Also shown are salaries scheduled for classroom teachers, principals, assistant principals, deans, counselors, librarians, school nurses, substitute teachers, and other professional staff at the school building level. To facilitate comparison of data reported by the responding school systems, there are 27 summary tables showing salary distributions, means, medians, and ranges of minimum and maximum salaries scheduled by reporting school systems for personnel in selected positions. This volume also contains tables reporting summary data on the length of work year for selected positions and the scheduled daily rate of pay for selected positions. (Author/JM)
