Evaluation of Outcomes, 1977-78: An Evaluation Sytem Report on Reading Programs and Reading Achievement; Part II-A Technical Report.

This report presents results of analyses of factors affecting reading achievement of 14,318 pupils in 34 elementary schools in Washington, D.C., as measured by the percentage of objectives mastered on the Prescriptive Reading Test and students' interest in reading for the school year 1977-78. It also presents descriptive information about students, classes, and reading programs for that year. The data in this report were collected using three basic instruments: the Classroom/Student Background Form, the Prescriptive Reading Test, and the Reading Program Form. Findings of the report are given in three parts: reading achievement and testing, interest in reading, and evaluations of selected types of reading programs. (TJ)
