Prospective Teachers' Acceptance of Others During Placements in Multi-Ethnic Community Centers.

Research was done to determine the degree of acceptance of others exhibited by two groups of randomly selected preservice teachers in order to determine whether special workshop and field experience training modified their attitudes towards others' patterns of behavior and beliefs. The study was set within the context of a muti-ethnic neighborhood community center. Findings reveal that although preservice teachers become more tolerant towards varying social and personal value systems after the specialized workshop sessions, they become less accepting of others as a result of interaction with children and adults in a community-based multicultural setting.
