Training Women Teachers: Private Experiments 1820-1840.
The changes and developments in the education of women teachers over a period of two decades in the early 18th century in America are examined. Tracing the history of women's education from before the founding of the first Normal School in 1839, changes in attitudes and philosophy are discussed, as well as the social implications of the growth of feminine influence on pupils at the elementary school level.
