A Taxonomy of Critical Tasks for Evaluating Student Teaching.
Kuehl, Raymond
A report is given on a research study designed to improve evaluation of the performance of student teachers. The focus of this study was to isolate general categories of critical tasks perceived to be the most important by school personnel and to determine if groups of school personnel placed the same relative degree of importance on each of the tasks selected for the purpose of evaluating student teaching. Participants in this study were elementary and secondary school cooperating teachers, student teachers, school administrators, and college teacher educators. Twenty-three tasks performed by student teachers were ranked by participants in order of importance. Results indicated a high degree of agreement on task importance. Results of this research are presented in tabular form. (JD)
