Guidelines for the efficient use of educational paraprofessionals and aides are given. Job descriptions, roles, and activities are defined so that a school district may obtain a clear picture of the type of individual necessary for such a position. The areas of peer tutors and volunteers are not specifically addressed, but the recommendations stated could apply as well to the training and utilization of these individuals. The handbook also defines the parameters of the legal limits within which the paraprofessional and aide may function. (Author/LH)
