The Development of Goals for Fiscal Year 1979.
In order to assure that all desiring input into the goals development process at South Oklahoma City Junior College have it, a systematic structure was developed for soliciting, organizing, and prioritizing concerns and for their development into goal statements. Specific goals were solicited from students (through a questionnaire published in the school newspaper), faculty, staff, and college management personnel (through another questionnaire), outside accrediting agencies, and the Board of Regents. The information gathered at successive project stages during June, 1978, is presented in six appendices. Appendices A and B present sample questionnaires. Appendix C lists the 342 goal concerns gathered during the project and grouped by the Office of Planning and Development into four areas dealing with students, instruction, personnel welfare, and management and administration. Appendix D lists these goals as prioritized by a workshop attended by students, faculty, and administrators. Appendix E outlines, and sets guidelines for, the implementation of nine goal statements derived from the prioritized lists during a second workshop attended by management personnel only. Finally, Appendix F lists the four general institutional goals developed for fiscal year 1979 by the President's Planning Council on the basis of the nine goal statements in Appendix E. (JP)
