Evaluation of Outcomes, 1977-78: An Evaluation System Report on Reading Programs and Reading Achievement; Part I -- A Summary.

This report presents results of analyses of factors affecting reading achievement of students in grades one through sex in District of Columbia schools as measured by the percentage of objectives mastered on the Prescriptive Reading Test (PRT) and by students' interest in reading for the year 1977-78. It also contains descriptive information about the students, classes, and reading programs for that year. In addition, it provides some brief comparisons with results obtained from analyses of data collected in 1975-76 and 1976-77 and offers conclusions and recommendations based on the three years of data and analyses. Changes across the years are noted and discussed. Appendixes contain data gathering instruments used in the study and a list of participant schools. (FL)
