Housing Needs of the Elderly: A Learning Module.

This manual is designed to assist those helping professionals responsible for developing consumer education programs for older adults on the topic of housing needs. In a modular presentation format, the materials address the following areas of concern: (1) housing alternatives; (2) subsidized housing; and (3) considerations in deciding where to live and selling or purchasing a home. The appendices contain strategies for analyzing housing needs, estimating household expenses, evaluating the plans of a house and checklists for assessing the benefits and disadvantages of retirement homes and apartments. Workshop guidelines, a program checklist, a facilitator's guide, and references are also provided. (HLM)
