Planning Health Education Programs in Oregon Schools: Community Health.
Oregon State Dept. of Education, Salem.
A community's health is dependent on the attitudes of its individual members towards their own physical and mental well-being and the amount of awareness and willingness individuals demonstrate in accepting responsibility for improving their own health conditions. The suggested course and unit goals are intended to foster a sense of health responsibility in school children. Each section is presented in terms of learning goals, suggested course content, and related grade activities in other study areas. Grade levels range from primary school to senior high school. Suggestions for learning activities utilize outside resources, such as parks and other community facilities, as well as making use of traditional educational techniques. (LH)
