Critical Findings from the Teacher Preparation Evaluation Program: Teacher Entry, Retention, and Change.
Adams, Ronald D.
A report is made on a teacher preparation evaluation program that consisted of a systematic follow-up of teachers both while in the undergraduate programs and after they entered the profession. The data provided covers a period of more than seven years. Changes in teacher behavior as experience is gained are examined, and additional findings about the characteristics of those who stay in the field and those who leave teaching are presented. Implications for decision makers who are involved in teacher education program development are discussed. Data from this research is appended in tabular form. (JD)
