Administrators' Criteria for Hiring Practices.

In this study school administrators were submitted a questionnaire to discover the characteristics, traits, or qualities in applicants for teaching positions that most influence their decisions on hiring. Recipients of the questionnaire were randomly selected to represent all geographic regions of the state. Results indicate that the job interview and the personal impression job candidates leave on potential employers are the most influential considerations in administrative hiring decisions. The methodology used in the survey is described in this report, and some results are presented in tabular form. (JD)
