Preschool Speech, Language, and Hearing Program: Establishment, Function, Impact in a Major Urban Setting.
Henderson-Barrick, Ann; And Others
The document contains three papers presented at the Annual International Convention of the Council for Exceptional Children in 1979, on the establishment, function, and impact of a preschool speech, language, and hearing program (the Preschool Speech, Language and Hearing Program of the School District of Philadelphia). The first paper, "The Establishment and Full Function of Preschool Speech, Language and Hearing Program in an Urban Setting" (A. Henderson-Barrick), focuses on such aspects as program development and delivery of service in the early identification, screening, evaluation, and remediation of speech, hearing, and language disorders in preschool children. The second paper, "The Instruction Program and Impact Upon Preschool Communicatively Handicapped Children and Their Parents" (H. Herrick), does not consider the hearing screening program, but offers -- among other things -- some primary considerations that shape program planning for the preschool speech and language handicapped children and their parents. The third paper, "Management, Accountability and Feedback Systems Developed to Monitor a Preschool Speech, Language, and Hearing Program" (L. Scheiner), includes five appendixes consisting of various sample forms. (DLS)
