ERIC Resource Management Workshops--Special Report on School System Standing Order Customers.

This report summarizes descriptive information on school systems and school system-related organizations that maintain complete files of ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) materials. The data reported were provided by participants in a series of regional workshops held throughout the United States on information management practices for organizations which have standing orders to receive most ERIC materials. The report is organized into three major sections. Part 1 discusses the administration, workshop structure, and analytical processes employed in conducting the project. Part 2 presents the results and findings of the workshops that relate specifically to school system standing order customers (SOCs). These findings are discussed in six sections: (1) the extent of participation by school system SOCs; (2) the ERIC-Related services provided by school system SOCs; (3) the availability of ERIC-related resources such as indexes and microfiche readers; (4) the extent to which ERIC resources are used at school system SOC locations; (5) the availability of existing library management data; and (6) the concerns and needs of SOCs. Finally, part 3 includes four appendices to provide specific details on the project and the school system SOCs.
