Observations on the Relations Between Education and Work in the People's Republic of China: Report of a Study Group, April 25 to May 15, 1978. Extended Version.
Kerr, Clark; And Others
This is a report of the observations and activities of a group of Americans who visited China to study the Chinese attempt to integrate education with work. As well as general observations by the 22 group members, accounts are included of visits made to specific schools and workplaces. In addition, the report contains a background paper on education in China, prepared by John Shea, which describes recent developments in China's educational policy, presents a chronology of major events in that country from 1949 to 1976, and provides a glossary of special words, phrases, and revolutionary slogans commonly encountered in China. Appended to the report are: (1) the study group's itinerary; (2) written questions addressed to the Ministry of Education and to the State Bureau of Labor; (3) Chinese government documentation on policies relevant to the topic of the integration of education and work; and (4) a selected bibliography.
