Teacher Policies in a New Context.

The focus of these studies is on the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the recruitment, training, and utilization of teachers in relation to current economic, social, and demographic trends. Three major studies are reported: present situation and future prospects of teacher supply and demand in countries associated with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; teacher policies at the level of compulsory education; and analysis of teacher tasks in selected innovative schools. A statement of overall policy issues and orientations in teacher policies precedes the study reports. (JD)
