Measuring Self, Task, and Impact Concerns: A Manual for the Use of the Teacher Concerns Questionnaire.
George, Archie A.
This manual describes the background, development, and validation of the Teacher Concerns Questionnaire (TCQ), which was designed to enable researchers and teacher educators to measure the concerns of teachers in three areas--self, task, and impact on student learning. These three areas are actually delineations of three psychosocial stages through which a teacher passes as he/she moves from a pre-professional to a seasoned professional educator. Use of the TCQ provides quantitative information regarding assessment of the teacher's progress along this route. Since the complete questionnaire, instructions for use, a profile display sheet and a scoring key, and a computer program to compute TCQ responses are all included, the guidebook also serves as a user's manual.
