Guidelines for Inclusion of Mediated (Audio-Visual) Instructional Materials in the Resource and Diagnostic Systems at the University of New Hampshire.
Kleinbaum, David G.
This report identifies special characteristics of AV materials and special considerations for their use, provides a brief overview of general recommendations for the incorporation of statistical AV materials into the resource system, diagnostic system, and summer sessions at the University of New Hampshire, and gives detailed procedures for carrying out the general recommendations. Guidelines are also provided for updating a media survey conducted by the American Statistical Association which has resulted in two lists--a 1974-75 compilation of audiovisual materials offered for sale as reported by publishing companies, and a 1975 compilation of predominately unpublished materials developed by statistics instructors and/or instructional designers for local use. Included in the text are a survey report form, a resource classification form, a checklist for initial inclusion in the system, an evaluation form for appraising the content of materials, an attitude questionnaire, and a brochure for a proposed workshop on uses of media in teaching statistics. Appendices include the two ASA lists, appraisals of selected media, and referenced survey and appraisal forms. (Author/JEG)
