One of the goals for community education is to encourage the widest use of school buildings for activities that promote learning among youth and adults. Through legislation passed by the 66th Texas Legislature, community education will be expanded to many more school districts and communities throughout the state. This publication has been designed to help schools in implementing community education and to assist established projects to expand. Materials used by local community school programs are included to provide practical solutions to problems. The materials deal with funding and budgeting, selection and governance of community councils, staffing, recordkeeping, public information, interagency relations, community school program information, and evaluations.
