Language and the Right to Communicate.
Corsetti, Renato, Comp.; And Others
Drawn from the proceedings of the Sixty-second World Congress of Esperanto, the items in this publication focus on language and the right to communicate. Its contents include a discussion paper on the right to communicate, emphasizing the linguistic aspects of international communication; an address by the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) surveying the work of that organization in the area of international communication; and summaries of addresses on the ways in which language differences hinder cooperation among nations, UNESCO and linguistic communication, and language and the democracy of communication. A summary of the principal views expressed by the participants in the Congress, recommendations for steps to be taken by organizations concerned with the right to communicate, and a resolution adopted by the Congress calling for national Esperanto associations to support the work of UNESCO are included.
