Language in the Center. Language in the Classroom: A Series. 10.
This pamphlet is the last in a series of ten stemming from the view that language is central to learning, that teachers can gain insights into their work and into learning by examining the language of the classroom, and that current language theory can be the means to such insights. It contains a discussion of some of the theoretical positions that underlie writing, a description of a writing program for adults, several case studies of students in the program, and a discussion of the role of the teacher in such a program. Selections from student writings are included. (FL)
