Fotonovela. Technical Note No. 13.

This report contains a description of a program that sought to develop the fotonovela as an instrument for increasing literacy and consciousness awareness in Ecuador. Following a general introduction to the work of the Nonformal Education Project, the creator of this program, the report presents information about the antecedents and characteristics of the fotonovela and about the content of the fotonovelas produced in the program. Discussions of the precautions taken in preparing the fotonovelas, the distribution systems used, and the possible uses of the publications are also included. The report concludes with a summary of what was learned by the developers of the program. (FL)
