Theatre Arts as Part of the Language Arts Curriculum.
Halliday, Mina Gail, Ed.; Potts, Norman B., Ed.
The contributors to this monograph have combined theatre arts theory and practice into brief suggestions for classroom teachers of language arts. The various sections cover the following areas: basic assumptions about teaching and studying theatre arts; pantomime, improvisation, and characterization; design and technology in theatre, including discussions, exercises, and projects for the design of scenery, lighting, and costumes for the stage; flat construction; stage props; stage makeup; play production; the history of the theatre; and a note about theatre organizations. The monograph also contains a curriculum design for a semester course in dramatic arts, a selected bibliography for theatre design and technology, and a list of workshops and festivals held in Illinois.
