Teaching and Learning Processes in Physical Activity: The Central Problem of Sport Pedagogy.
Locke, Lawrence F.
The use of an established research method, Research on Teacher Effectiveness (RTE), is considered as it may be applied to examine successful teaching methods in physical activities and sports. The basic process of RTE is observing teachers at work with students in the classroom or gymnasium. Research on the relationship between teaching behaviors and methods and student achievement in physical activities has, in the past, been limited. Conclusions on teacher effectiveness reached by the RTE process are discussed as they apply to academic achievement, and projection is made on their validity when considered in the area of physical achievement.
