Children in the World.
McHale, Magda Cordell; And Others
This book of charts documents the current situation of children in the less developed regions of the world. Data on population distribution by age and sex, urban growth, social and economic conditions, life expectancy, mortality, health and disease, nutrition, medical care, education, youth participation in the labor force of selected countries and other demographic variables are included. The less developed and more developed countries are frequently compared. Factual textual material accompanies many charts. Most of the data given are drawn from sources compiled in the second half of the 1970s. An outlook for the future in terms of population growth, the basic needs of children and short term goals for meeting the needs of impoverished people is indicated. (RH)
