Development, Use, and Management of Information Systems in Higher Education.

The goal of the CAUSE conference was to provide a wide variety of presentations emphasizing the expanded role and the need for higher education management to more effectively use information systems. All higher education institutions are addressed: small colleges, community colleges, large universities, and state higher education agencies. Major areas considered are: management and information systems; development of information systems; use of information systems; and small college information systems. Among the topics covered in the 67 papers are: enrollment decline and institution size; financing systems in public institutions; system design; privacy and data processing; programmer job descriptions; security; software purchasing; data needs assessment; load-leveling and student work in financial aid; course registration; budgeting and financial management; computing centers in small colleges; personnel records and systems; planning models; interactive systems; a faculty information system; and student information systems.
