This report deals with the nutrient requirements of seven species of animals used extensively for biomedical research in the United States. Following an introductory chapter of general information on nutrition, chapters are presented on the nutrient requirements of the laboratory rat, mouse, gerbil, guinea pig, hamster, vole, and fishes. Each chapter gives information on fat, carbohydrates, energy, proteins and amino acids, minerals, fat-soluble vitamins, and water-soluble vitamins. (BB)
