Creative Prescriptions Unlimited, Grades 7-8. Evaluation Program Needs.
East Whittier City School District, CA.
The document provides lesson plans for strengthening the thought processes, including problem solving and creative abilities, of seventh and eighth grade mentally gifted children. The lessons are organized within four of the five operations of the mind as defined by J. Guilford's Structure of Intellect (SOI): cognition (18 lessons), memory (9 lessons), divergent production (16 lessons), and convergent production (3 lessons). All six products of the SOI Model (units, classes, relations, systems, transformations, and implications) are considered; however, emphasis is placed on transformations and implications since these two products are seen to clearly relate to the creative process. Diagrammed for lessons in each of four areas are the curricular objective (such as that the student will recognize symbolic unit-words), input, learning opportunities, media, output, evaluation, and enrichment. Included in the document are pictures, diagrams, puzzles, and other worksheets to be duplicated and used with the lessons. (SBH)
