Beglarian, Grant, Ed.; Knight, Arthur, Ed.
The items in this report represent the proceedings of a national conference that examined the diversity in the objectives and processes of instruction present in university-level programs in film/video education and sought to identify a common core of systematic procedures that could serve as a basis for defining the discipline of film/video. The report contains the program for the four-day conference, a list of the participants, an outline of the statements and recommendations adopted by the participants, an introductory address on the issues involved in the growth and diversity of screen education, and ten papers and complementary responses that focus on the following areas: the diversity and scope of the field, academic processes, supportive resources, and organizational issues. The topics considered include the problem of standards, a definition of film study, teaching models and materials, curriculum development, library resources, technical resources, and outside supplemental agencies and organizations.
