The Asian Indians in America. A Curriculum Resource Handbook for Teachers.
This handbook provides background information and resource materials on Asian Indians. Materials covered in an audiovisual program entitled "Introducing the Asian Indians in America" are presented in four categories: (1) historical perspective and establishment of the Asian Indian community in America; (2) contemporary lifestyles of Asian Indians; (3) cultural borrowing from the Asian Indian heritage (by Americans); and (4) some contributions made in the fields of science, technology and medicine, the arts and business by the Asian Indian community. Ways of using Asian Indian studies in the classroom are discussed. Included are objectives, approaches to seeking knowledge about and from Asian Indians, suggestions for classroom projects and student activities, and a list of sources and resources on Asian Indian Studies, India, and other ethnic heritage studies.
