What Future? What Child? Ontario Association for Curriculum Development Annual Conference (27th, Canada, November 9-11, 1978).

Presented in this document are a series of conference reports dealing with the future of education and the role of the child in education. Some of the topics discussed under the heading of "What Future?" include alternative curriculum directions, basic education, modes of education, economics as a primary determiner of educational objectives, open and closed systems in education, the Ontario educational system, the school as a multi-service agency, and teacher security and self-actualization. Topics considered under the heading of "What Child?" include the child as a product of our environment, matching child development with instructional realities, the student and the arts, education for leisure, multilingualism and multiculturalism, students and families, children's rights, teacher education, biology, special education, literacy, the role of religion, young people and idealism, minorities, and the Canadian child. Appended are reports of the Ontario Association for Curriculum Development (OACD) business session, the presentation and acceptance of the Colonel Watson Award, the presentation of honorary life memberships, a synopsis of group topics and listings of organizations sending participants to this conference and previous OACD conference themes.
