COED Transactions, Vol. X, No. 5, May 1978. STAGEF, A Program to Compute the Internal Variables of an Operating Distillation Column.
Marcovitz, Alan B., Ed.
A digital computer program, STAGEF, designed for use with the distillation experiments in a typical undergraduate Chemical Engineering laboratory in Unit Operations is explained. The program enables the student to determine the rate of liquid overflow and vapor boil-up which leaves each tray within the distillation column. The student may also obtain the vapor compositions and then calculate stage efficiencies from these compositions. The program may be used with binary or multicomponent separations. STAGEF is written in subroutines, and three of these, which contain the computations unique to STAGEF, are described in detail. (Author/GA)
