Administrators Resource Manual for the Deinstitutionalization of Children and Youth.
Southwest Regional Resource Center, Salt Lake City, UT.
Designed to help administrators involved with the deinstitutionalization of Arizona's severely and profoundly handicapped children, the manual details cooperative planning decisions and describes components of the educational program which are different from those previously delivered to less handicapped children. In the first section, responsibility, location of services, and service procurement information is listed for the public schools and the Division of Developmental Disabilities/Mental Retardation. Eleven special considerations for the deinstitutionalized students (including assessment and programing resources, toilet training, transportation, and medical services) are discussed and resources are identified for each area. Three case studies are provided. Among five appendixes is information on placement into services from the community. (CL)
