The third of a five-volume series, this volume consists of two empirical studies of organization development (OD) in school systems. Part 1 reports on information gathered from over 300 OD consultants in the United States and Canada regarding job title, work base, sex, geographical region, type of training, and nature and extent of OD work in schools since 1970. Part 2, which forms the major part of this volume, details the OD programs in 76 school districts. Data were gathered through questionnaires and telephone calls and subjected to multiple regression analysis. Information is presented on the characteristics of the districts, the nature of and approaches to district OD programs, operating issues, outcomes, and recommendations. The appendices reproduce the consultant and the school district questionnaires and list the statistical outcomes of the study. (Author/LD)
