Annual Report of Programs for the Disadvantaged in Texas, 1977-78.

Reviewed in this document are compensatory education programs funded by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Title I, in the public and nonpublic schools of Texas during 1977-1978. Included are descriptive statistics concerning the scope and nature of the programs and test data reflecting effectiveness of reading and mathematics activities from those districts using norm referenced tests for measuring student progress. Data are presented in two ways: statewide summary information; and categories according to size of district in which programs were operated. Information is provided for instructional activities, noninstructional support services, personnel, summer programs, and expenditures. Models for evaluating Title I programs are also discussed. (EB)
