Developing a secondary level health education program is the main focus of this guide, and concepts and supporting data pertaining to some of the major health problems facing children and youth are presented as well. The guide is divided into three sections. The first section, "Policies and Procedures," is concerned with school health policies and services, interscholastic athletic programs, and conceptual learning in health education. The next section, "Course Content," outlines concepts, learning activities, and desirable outcomes for a series of relevant topics including alcohol, drug abuse, diseases, environmental health, nutrition, occupational health, first aid, social-emotional health, physiology and care of the human body, and consumer health. The final section,"Integration and Correlation of Concepts in a Sequential Unit," focuses on the development of a curriculum for health education.
