These notes are designed to accompany a series of 10 British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) television programs intended to give persons already familiar with French, an insight into aspects of contemporary Francophone societies. The programs revolve around various themes: (1) numbers and letters; (2) words and meanings; (3) eating patterns; (4) nutrition and beauty; (5) bicycling; (6) fashion; (7) the daily routine; (8) ecology and pollution; (9) some regions of France; and (10) French outside of France. The notes provide ideas for teachers and viewers to prepare for and follow up on these programs. Each chapter contains a program summary, a key to the extracts, selected transcripts, suggestions for exploiting the programs, and an information resource list.
