Federal Railroad Administration Training Conference. Labor/Management/Public Agency Cooperation for Railroad Employee Training. Conference Proceedings.
Stewart (D.A.) & Associates, Moorestown, NJ.
The proceedings are taken from a conference designed to encourage and develop dialogue between government planners and railroad industry leaders on public support for railroad training. The conference agenda, opening remarks, keynote address, and speeches on management and labor perspectives introduce the report. The conference proceedings are presented in the first of three parts; they contain fact sheets on seven subjects and panel discussions on six subjects: (1) the roles of vocational education, (2) Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) Office of National Programs, (3) proposed Altoona rail training center, (4) CETA/local prime sponsors, (5) the Job Corp Programs, and (6) coordination of federal programs. A luncheon address entitled "Training Innovations in the Maritime Industry" is also included. Section 2 presents abstracts from the Federal Domestic Assistance Catalogue. The abstracts represent possible sources of federal support for education and employment training needs. The format includes a description of how each organization operates, the individual program goals, funding practices, and a brief synopsis of procedures for obtaining program support. Section 3 provides a directory of state directors of vocational education, a directory of CETA prime sponsors, and a directory of conference registrants. (CSS)
