Uses of State Administered Federal Education Funds. Fiscal Years 1976 and 1977 (under Section 437, General Education Provisions Act). Third Annual Report of the U.S. Commissioner of Education to the Senate Committee on Human Resources [and the] House Committee on Education and Labor.
Office of Education (DHEW), Washington, DC. Office of Planning, Budgeting, and Evaluation.
This report is the third annual response of the U.S. Commissioner of Education to the requirements of the General Education Provisions Act. It includes annual reports in the form of statistical data from the states describing state uses of federal education funds. The 11 summary tables were designed to satisfy these objectives: (1) to show every data item specified in the legislation; (2) to permit comparisons across all states and programs; (3) to show the characteristics of grantees and beneficiaries of the state-administered federal education programs; and (4) to illustrate the varying administrative policies of the states within their prescribed responsibilities to suballocate federal funds. A brief history of the process of requiring these annual reports precedes the data. (Author/LD)
