Guide for School Testing Programs.

A number of brief papers are presented to provide guidelines for test directors of school systems. This collection is intended for both newly appointed and experienced directors. Contributions were solicited from practicing directors of testing; the authors include Anthony J. Allen, Margaret Backman, Joan Bollenbacker, Gerald Hanna, James Lawson; Joseph L. Mazur, John Menne, Richard Poole, Albert Rouse, and Annie W. Ward. Chapters discuss the following topics: (1) challenges facing the test director in today's school; (2) organization of testing services--getting started, and selecting and using an advisory committee; (3) the standardized testing program--planning the program, supervising test administration, and operating a scoring service; (4) using test results--for guidance and instructional purposes, for program evaluation, and for teacher evaluation; (5) teacher made tests: the test director's role; (6) coordinating external testing programs; and (7) reporting test results to the public.
