This publication is a collection of commentaries on a published monograph entitled "Teacher Competence and Teacher Effectiveness: A Review of Process-Product Research" by Donald M. Medley (1977). Medley's stated purpose was to provide teacher educators with access to the meaningful findings of research in teacher effectiveness. The papers here comment on Medley's methodology and procedures; consider the inferences/implications for teacher education of the findings reported in Medley's review; and predict what Medley's approach portends for the future of research and selection of topics for further investigation in teacher effectiveness.
