Multicultural Canada; A Teachers' Guide to Ethnic Studies. Curriculum Series/36.
Wood, Dean D.
This teaching guide provides an orientation and rationale for ethnic studies in social studies curricula, the necessary social science background material, teaching units, and recommendations about instructional materials. Questions are addressed concerning the nature of ethnic studies, who should be studied, how ethnic studies relate to other areas, what student goals should be established, interdisciplinary and organizational approaches, and kinds of materials. Five units of curriculum and instruction are identified, and a large selected bibliography of instructional materials covers a variety of topics in ethnic studies and provides extensive citations on individual ethnic groups. Each of the instructional units includes a theme, objectives, and teaching strategies. (DS)
