Summaries of research findings tracing the development and use of a battery of diagnostic instruments for the assessment of self-concept and motivation in students and teachers are presented. The inventory measures factors such as self-adequacy, personal investment, role expectations, and goal needs. Part one deals with findings on students from preschool to university undergraduates from 1962 to 1977. In the second part, research focuses on teachers from all levels in the time period of 1973 to 1977. This document is an update of a previous work written in 1975. (JD)
