The Literature of Curriculum Development: Toward Centralization and Analysis.
Schubert, William H.
This historical study of curriculum literature is an attempt to centralize and analyze sources that serve as a basis for what is too often an "ahistorical" field. The objective is to produce a comprehensive chronological bibliography. Citations within sources in the bibliography are analyzed in an attempt to determine dominant disciplinary roots in curriculum literature, recurring citations are noted, and suggested treatments of the literature are presented. Refinements of both the bibliography and analyses are encouraged. It is assumed that knowledge of the field's heritage will enhance subsequent curriculum development and research. (Author/IRT)
