Sex Education of the Gifted and Talented Youth.
Taubin, Sara; Kane, Nancy
Characteristics of young gifted children are set forth and discussed are implications for sex education. Indicators of extraordinary ability are listed for parents and professionals; and motivational, creativity, leadership, and psychosocial characteristics are described. Also reviewed are possible problems (such as gullibility, stubborness, and difficulty in accepting the illogical). Sex education considerations are seen to include incongruencies between early maturation, intellectual sophistication, and older friends, with whom age differences may preclude serious social-sexual relationships. Suggestions are made for differentiating sex education curriculum for the gifted and talented. (CL)
