Two Papers: Basics and Media. Occasional Paper Number 15.
Together, the two papers in this report describe past, present, and future trends on the use of media, particularly in the English classroom. The first paper makes several projections about the use of media as a result of the "back to basics" movement. It defines "basic" education, explains the philosophical background of the movement, and offers five objections to it. The paper concludes with a discussion of the effects this movement will have on school media programs. The second paper is a statistical study describing what a selected group of Indiana schools was doing with media before the "back to basics" movement began. (FL)
